ArtStation Challenge Project Titan – Level Design and Environment Art – Sacred Pyramids

I want to share some of my work on my ArtStation Titan Progress entry submission post.
https://www.artstation.com/challenges/titan/categories/189/submissions/90599
It very much still a work in progress but I wanted to share it in case some of you still might want to join the challenge or view the submissions and if you could comment on them. First of all Project Titan is a massive undertaking like no other before or previous challenge. It is collaborative. Over 2000 people are working on it, actually I think 3000. I believe there are 5 or 6 categories in art asset creation.

Medieval: Back and Forth Artstation Challenge

The Medieval: Back and Forth Artstation Challenge

I chose the classic Medieval Castle what better to say Medieval than a castle with some modern technology with a cable car, and a dome like a soccer stadium and other small improvements.

The original Medieval Castle Environment design is by LPS DC https://www.artstation.com/lpsdc
I want to thank LPS DC from ArtStation for making this possible. The Original Concept Art for this Medieval Castle Environment was designed by LPS DC and can be found here https://www.artstation.com/challenges/medieval-back-and-forth/categories/170/submissions/76034

My Breakdown process blog https://www.artstation.com/challenges/medieval-back-and-forth/categories/175/submissions/77867

I made this Castle during the Medieval Artstation Challenge. It took about 6 weeks.

I also want to thank @BeedleTheBardcore From Youtube for the Music provided in the video. It’s Medieval 2 Pac Hit em Up

Redo
I re did this project a 2nd time, this time it took me about 2 days for the texturing. Again I did it the day before Easter. Lol
I did it in Unreal Engine 4 for these renders . The texturing was done in Substance Painter with the default textures but I mixed them together. I plan on doing another version with all my own custom textures soon.

Original Post
Made in Maya, mud box, and mixer and came up with this project. It’s been on the backburner for a while, I asked the original concept artist if I could use this art maybe like a year and a half ago. Opened the almost finished model up the day before Easter and during the Gonzaga vs UCLA game day finished modeling it and shortly after textured it with Quixel mixer with their new beta software that allows import of a custom 3d mesh model. I want to thank Iva Andrei for allowing me to use the original concept art ( https://www.artstation.com/artwork/OybZOk ) to use as reference to create the 3d model.

Approximately 3-4 days to complete project in work time, maybe a week for the modeling

[UE4] Tropical River – CGMA Vegetation and Plants

As a I worked on projects at CGMA, this is one that I recently completed for the Vegetation and Plants for Games class with Jeremy Huxley https://www.artstation.com/jeremyh as the instructor of a great 6 week long class. Everything except the river water here was done by me. The river was from the pack on the Unreal Marketplace called Ultimate River Tool for UE4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VB6F7hAU9rI

I want to thank Jeremy Huxley for all the help in teaching the class and just want to say that I learned so much during the 6 weeks. Thank you

[UE4] Unreal Winter Snowy Scene – Arctic Blast- CGMA Organic World Building

This project was part of a class I took at CGMA, this is one that I recently made for the organic world building for Games class with Anthony Vaccaro https://www.artstation.com/autocon as the instructor of a great 10 week long class. Everything except the trees here was done by me. The trees are from a speedtree pack called KOOLA’S SNOW EXAMPLE PROJECT (UE4) https://store.speedtree.com/store/koolas-snow-example-project-ue4/ The falling snowflakes were also from the pack from speedtree UE4 edition

[UE4] Mansion – UE4 Modular Environments – CGMA

This was a project of mine that I did during a 10 week class with Clinton Crumpler as the teacher of UE4 Modular Environments at CGMA.

All the room walls and structure and all environment assets were made by me. I also did a video part of this in VR showing a slightly different variety of the scene.

Took about 3 months to complete.
The museum-home of millionaire Philip Stevens (James Stewart) is in Florida. It’s Villa Vizcaya, 3251 South Miami Avenue at 32nd Road in Coconut Grove on the coast of South Miami.
This Italianate mansion is in Ace Ventura, Pet Detective, Iron Man 3, Bad Boys 2, Oliver Stone’s Any Given Sunday, and its grounds are in Absence of Malice. All pretty cool movies.

Digital tutors tutorial modeling and texturing next-gen building

As an instructor with the industry leaders in online tutorials I instructed a course for “modeling and texturing a next-gen building for games in 3ds max.” Direct Link Preview: https://app.pluralsight.com/course-player?clipId=0146d0db-97bf-48cd-a6bb-19ecc4527eeb

https://www.pluralsight.com/courses/modeling-texturing-next-gen-building-games-3ds-max-2445

It is a unique workflow with modular pieces of a building using 3ds max, quixel, photoshop and marmoset. throughout these lessons I covered the modeling and texturing of a next-gen building in 3ds max and quixel. starting by using a reference photo to create a texture sheet and how to use the grid to make the modular pieces. Then I went into modeling and making our physically based shaders. with the normal maps with quixel’s ndo, and adding the lighting and preview of the model and textures in marmoset.

Inspired by the the Chicago Theatre in the game “Watch Dogs” and the actual Fox Theatre in Detroit, Michigan and in the game “The Crew”.
Everything here was created rendered and made by me. The lighting and all modeling, texturing was done by me.

Breakdowns:
This was modeled in 3ds Max and textured and rendered in Marmoset using its new Physical Based Shaders feature (PBS) and then imported into Unreal Engine 4. I did all of the modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering and all of the objects in this scene.
Took 2 months to complete.
